Lavandula is a genus of 39 known species of flowering plants in the mint family, Lamiaceae. It is native to the Old World and is found from Cape Verde and the Canary Islands, southern Europe across to northern and eastern Africa, the Mediterranean, southwest Asia to southeast India. Many members of the genus are cultivated extensively in temperate climates as ornamental plants for garden and landscape use.  Source

Tulip mania or tulipomani  was a period in the Dutch Golden Age during which contract prices for bulbs of the recently introduced tulip reached extraordinarily high levels and then suddenly collapsed. At the peak of tulip mania, in March 1637, some single tulip bulbs sold for more than 10 times the annual income of a skilled craftsman.  Source

Iris is a genus of 260–300 species of flowering plants with showy flowers. It takes its name from the Greek word for a rainbow, referring to the wide variety of flower colors found among the many species.  As well as being the scientific name, iris is also very widely used as a common name for all Iris species, as well as some belonging to other closely related genera.  Source

The onion genus Allium comprises monocotyledonous flowering plants and includes, besides the onion, garlic, chives, scallion, and the leek. Allium species occur in temperate climates of the northern hemisphere, except for a few species occurring in Chile, Brazil (A. sellovianum), and tropical Africa. They vary in height between 5 cm and 150 cm. The flowers form an umbel at the top of a leafless stalk.  Source
