Grevillea is a
diverse genus of about 360 species of evergreen flowering plants in the protea family
Proteaceae, native to rainforest and more open habitats in Australia, New
Guinea, New Caledonia, Indonesia and Sulawesi. It
was named in honour of Charles Francis Greville. The species range from prostrate
shrubs less than 50 cm tall to trees 35 m tall. Common names include grevillea, spider flower, silky oak,
bottle brush and toothbrush plant. Source
Banksia is a genus of around 170 species in the plant family Proteaceae. These Australian wildflowers and popular garden plants are easily recognised by their characteristic flower spikes and fruiting "cones" and heads. When it comes to size, banksias range from prostrate woody shrubs to trees up to 30 metres tall. They are generally found in a wide variety of landscapes; sclerophyll forest, rainforest, shrubland, and some more arid landscapes, though not in Australia's desert. Source
Duranta erecta is a species of flowering shrub in the verbena
family Verbenaceae, native from Mexico to South America and the Caribbean. It
is widely cultivated as an ornamental plant in tropical and subtropical gardens
throughout the world, and has become naturalized in many places. It is
considered an invasive species in Australia, China, South Africa and on several
Pacific Islands. Common names include golden
dewdrop, pigeon berry,
and skyflower. In Mexico, the
native Nahuatl name for the plant is xcambocoche. In Tonga it is known as mavaetangi. Source
